Meg Wylie
Meg Wylie is an Irish multi-disciplinary artist based in London. Her practice is primarily concerned with identity and belonging; how our backgrounds, experiences and memory intrinsically shape our present.
She is interested in the intersection of the unconscious and hidden desires within the context of Irish mythology and contemporary Irish identity.
Her methodology is an intuitive process where she primarily works in a gestural, calligraphic manner, with an emphasis on the ‘woven-ness’ of things; an ‘unseparation’ between humans and everything else. She paints with an instinctive sense of immediacy; in which her whole body becomes involved in the act of painting, inhabiting the liminal space between the figurative and the abstract.
