ONE WEST POINT
ABOUT
City & Docklands has commissioned local artist and creative director David Samuel of RareKind, to lead the artistic direction at their flagship west London development ‘One West Point’ in North Acton.
David will curate, create and produce wayfinding and artworks for each of the four buildings, as well as commissioning artists to produce large scale murals and art pieces on the ground floors of the buildings.
The Residence Building, the first of the four buildings to complete, is 11 stories tall with two roof gardens. David has commissioned Sophie Mess, an acclaimed mural artist from Devon, to produce the first art installation called ‘The Beauty of Difference’ that sits in the buildings entrance, working in her distinctive style and colour palette and medium use.

Each of the 10 residential floors in the building will have artwork designed by David and hand painted by a team of artists. Inspiration for the works has in part been taken from photos he has captured of local skies, turning them into geometric patterns that will be pasted to the surface.
The wayfinding has been curated by David and designed by Utile, a London graphic design studio, who will hand paint each piece of artwork. The works will sit alongside door plates have been hand screen printed and etched onto brass plates by JFK Ltd, a West London fabricator.
When complete, One West Point will house 111 artworks on the residential floors, 12 commissioned artists murals, sculptures, and paintings from an array of local artists.
