Regan Boyce
ABOUT
Regan Boyce is a multidisciplinary artist based in West London, who specialises in the creation of boldly coloured light sculptures and accompanying print work. Through sculptural objects, installations and print he explores the contrast between organic spontaneity and controlled, thoughtful process.
Exerting an ability to ‘control’ form Boyce uses natural structures as templates for geometric and skeletal sculptures. Through the ‘conversion’ process organic variations are replaced by harsh lines and sharp corners, these structural branches hold portals of light. This use of light as well as the bold use of colour enliven these objects further reinforced by their ability to create fractal like lines of shadow.
With a lack of access to facilities and equipment ‘lock down’ perpetuated Boyce’s creation of self- made and designed screen print equipment. This ‘print cart’ acts as a self-contained unit to facilitate the screen-printing process. He uses print as both a responsive and informative method to react to his installation and develop his practice.
Boyce’s work explores a subtle line between the human subjugation of nature and the possibility of balance and coexistence of form.
