Miss Yang Studio
Yang Yumeng is a textile designer specializing in weaving, having recently completed her BA (Hons) in Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, where she also trained in knitwear.
Her work focuses on intricate constructions using fine natural yarns, often dyed with sustainable materials such as food waste. Drawing on the complex interplay between technology and craftsmanship, she explores the possibilities of weaving to develop a distinctive aesthetic language. Her innovative approach merges traditional techniques with contemporary methods, including the use of 3D printing and a 3-beam loom setup that enables the creation of unique textures, such as seersucker fabrics with varying densities.
Her recent project, “Dining with Me,” examines the ritual of dining as both a profound and everyday experience, emphasizing the shared moments and connections fostered through the act of eating together. The project aims to bridge the worlds of fashion and dining by creating tactile, sensuous pieces that elevate ordinary activities into moments of beauty and significance.
Yang’s work has been exhibited in prestigious venues, including The London Group Open 2023 at Copeland Gallery, the Surface Design Show 2024, and international platforms such as the Italian Contemporary Artists Invitation Exhibition at ISOLART GALLERY and Milan International Art Week. Additionally, she participated as a scholar in the Chinese national intangible cultural heritage project, hosted by Bi Yueying, a representative inheritor of the Sani embroidery.
